Memberships

April 1986 Vicwood became a member of International Wood Products Association. Founded in 1956, the International Wood Products Association (formerly the International Hardwood Products Association) is committed to the promotion and enhancement of trade in the imported hardwood and softwood products industry. Its diverse membership includes, among others, U.S. importers, manufacturers, transportation companies, port authorities, customs brokers, and overseas producers.

1998 Vicwood Group became a member of the Association Technique Internationale des Bois Tropicaux (ATIBT), a non-political NGO that represents the interests of more than 200 direct members throughout some 39 countries. Members include worldwide national producer and importer federations; international organisations such as the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the International Tropical Timber Association (ITTO) and the African Timber Organisation (ATO); tropical forestry and timber related research institutes, universities and consultants; tropical forestry and timber processing companies; and tropical timber service and equipment providers (forwarding agents, shipping lines, machine manufactures). The ATIBT plays a leading and recognised role in the dialogue leading to the proposal and implementation of pragmatic solutions for the sustainable management of tropical forests, increased, local, value-added processing and the world consumption of tropical timber products.

September 2000 Vicwood became a member of Forests Forever, a voluntary timber industry initiative working to safeguard the world's forests and Britain's future timber supplies. Forests Forever encourages forest owners to improve management practices, ensures Members source timber responsibly, and promotes the environmental benefits of wood as our only naturally renewable building material.

November 2002 Vicwood became a member of the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA), a non-profit trade association representing all segments of the hardwood flooring industry, from manufacturers, to distributors, to retailers, to installers. They provide training and resources for wood flooring professionals to assure you high-quality flooring that will last a lifetime.

September 2006 Vicwood became a member of the Architectural Woodwork Institute, the authoritative resource for excellence in architectural woodwork.

October 2006 Vicwood became a member of the Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers, a trade association with an international, corporate membership that includes manufacturers and distributors of machinery, hardware, lumber, upholstery materials, bedding components, wood products and other supplies to furnishings and wood products manufacturers.

June 2007 Vicwood became a member of the World Floor Covering Association, the floor covering industry's largest advocacy organization representing specialty floor covering retailers, manufacturers and distributors around the globe.

21 June 2002 Vicwood was issued China Environmental Labelling Products Certificate No. SCCEL-010-032 by the Secretariat of China Certification Committee for Environmental Labelling Products for being in conformity with the technological requirements of environmental labelling products (HJBZ37-1999 standard) as promulgated by the State Environmental Protection Administration of China for the following certified products: Super A, Vicdeck Vic's Ply; Ordinary Plywood (thickness 2.0mm - 40mm); Engineered Flooring (thickness 5mm - 28mm); Decorative Plywood (thickness 2.7mm - 3.0mm); Engineered Wood Lumber (thickness 5mm - 700mm); and Engineered Veneer (thickness 0.15mm - 4.0mm).

18 January 2004 Vicwood was issued ISO14001 Certificate No. 09-2204-0652 for its Environmental Management System and for being in compliance with the ISO14001: 1996 standard in relation to the following areas: Production and Relative Management of Plywood, Decorative Veneered Wood-Based Panel, Parquet and Solid Wood Flooring.

29 January 2004 Vicwood was issued Quality System Certificate No. 3200/20016834 for its Quality Management System and for being in compliance with the ISO9001: 2000 standard in relation to the following areas: Production and Service of Plywood, Fancy Plywood, Engineered Flooring, Solid Flooring and Fancy Veneer.

23 November 2005 - Invention Patent Certificate Delivered by the State Intellectual Property Office of P.R. China, it recognizes the invention of Engineered Wood Blocks by Mr. Vicwood K.T. Chong under Patent Number ZL 00 1 36528.2 and International Patent Item: B27D 1/04.

22 March 2006 Vicwood was issued China Environmental Labelling Product Certificate No. CEC-EL-010-032 by the State Environmental Protection Administration of China for being in conformity with the GB/T24024:2001 idt ISO 14024:1999 standards and technical requirements for environmental labeling products issued by SEPA and the HBC 17-2003 standard for certification product category: (A) Brand of Ordinary Plywood, Engineered Flooring, Decorative Plywood, Engineered Wood Lumber, Engineered Veneer and accessories. This certification is valid to 21 March 2009.

7 August 2006 - SGS Certification The wood that Vicwood uses to make its engineered veneer is certified and guaranteed by SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance), a company of worldwide repute that has its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. SGS has certified that Vicwood's subsidiary group in Central West Africa is able to describe the history of the production of a log or bundle of sawn timber and this serves as proof of the legal origin of the log as well as proof of the respect of basic forestry regulations. The areas tested by SGS were: the authorization of the company to perform forestry activities; respect of the authorized felling limits; respect of the authorized minimum cutting diameter; respect of the forestry regulations regarding administrative and fiscal declarations.

5 December 2006 - FSC Certification - Vicwood Industry (Suzhou) Co. Ltd. received Forest Stewardship Council A.C. certification number SA-COC-1603. This means that it is licensed to use the FSC logo and sell as FSC certified the following products: plywood, fancy plywood, solid flooring, plywood-based engineered flooring, natural wood veneer, wood slats, engineered wood blocks, engineered wood sawn lumber, engineered wood veneer, dyed veneer, real wood veneer decorated HPL, wooden doors, etc. Valid until 4 December 2011. Not all products are available as FSC certified. Please ask if you require FSC-certified products.

7 February 2007 - SGS Certification Under its Statements SGS-TLTV/LP-0006 and 0007, entitled Timber Legality and Traceability Verification - Legality of Production, SGS further certified that “Further to the SGS Report dated October 11th, 2006, and based on the assessment performed by SGS Société Générale de Surveillance SA from 7 to 9 April 2006 (Headquarters) and from 26 to 30 April 2006 (production sites)...[Vicwood's subsidiaries in Cameroon] ha[ve] been verified against agreed principles under SGS' Timber Legality and Traceability Verification Programme for the following...: Production, transport, processing and export of logs originating from [their various UFAs as well as the] production, transport and export of [air-dried] and kiln[-dried lumber] processed [at their] industrial site[s], demonstrating compliance with the following principles related to specified laws and regulations applicable in the country of origin and with requirements related to the company's internal traceability system: Authorization to exercise an economic activity; Rights of workers and local communities; Authorizaton to exercise forest activity; Regulation in terms of forest declaration and taxation; Forest harvesting regulations; Marketing and timber processing regulations; Registrations maintained by the company...This statement is valid for a period of 5 years: from 7 February 2007 until 6 February 2012.”

9 February 2007 - China Quality System Certificate Vicwood Industry (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., by reason of its Quality Management System, has been awarded this certificate for compliance with the ISO9001:2000 standard in the following areas: Manufacture of Plywood, Fancy Plywood, Reconstituted Solid Flooring, Solid Flooring and Fancy Veneer. Certified since 16 February 2001, and valid from 9 February 2007 until 8 February 2010.

9 February 2007 - Environmental Management Certificate Vicwood Industry (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., by reason of its Environmental Management System, has been awarded this certificate for compliance with the ISO14001:2004 standard in the following areas: Manufacture and Related Management Activities of Plywood, Fancy Plywood, Reconstituted Solid Flooring, Solid Flooring and Fancy Veneer. Certified since 18 January 2004, and valid from 9 February 2007 until 8 February 2010.

11 December 2007 - National Award for Technology Invention Certificate number 1007-F-202-2-01-R06 awarded by The State Council of P.R. China to Mr. Vicwood K.T. Chong, the winner of the national technology invention for the production technology and application of bamboo veneer.

3 February 2009 - FSC Certification - Vicwood Industry (Suzhou) Co. Ltd. was certified by the Forest Stewardship Council A.C. under certification number SGS-COC-005792 as meeting the requirements of Chain-of-Custody standards FSC-STD-40-004 (V2-0) for the products listed below and derived from a well managed forest: Purchasing of FSC pure logs, manufacture (transfer system) of FSC pure plywood, fancy plywood, solid wooden flooring, veneer, wooden slat, wooden board, wooden doors and wooden HPL board (high pressure laminate); purchasing and sales (transfer system) of FSC logs. Valid until 2 February 2014. Not all products are available as FSC certified. Please ask if you require FSC-certified products.

19 February 2009 - Our Vicwood engineered veneer underwent testing via gas chromatography mass spectrometry by Japan Food Research Laboratories for the following volatile organic substances: Ethylbenzene, o-Xylene, m-Xylene, p-Xylene, Toluene and Styrene. None of these harmful substances were detected.


24 March 2010 - CARB Certification - Vicwood Industry (Suzhou) Co. Ltd. has been assessed and certified by SGS Hong Kong Ltd. (TPC-014) as meeting section 93120.3(b), title 17 of the California Code of Regulations. “The Manufacturer demonstrates compliance of composite wood products against section 93120.2(a) Phase 2 for Hardwood Plywood-Veneer Core 3mm, 5mm, 9mm, 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 17mm, 18mm, 20mm, title 17, California Code of Regulations.” This certificate also states that our production facility meets the quality assurance requirements stated in section 93120.12, appendix 2, title 17 of the California Code of Regulations.
